Coordinator of the Covid-19 Presidential Taskforce, Sani Aliyu, has said that the resumption date for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation activities has already been made known to its management.
Aliyu said so during the media briefing in Abuja, in response to a question regarding the resumption of NYSC orientation activities, among others.
“We’ve had further conversations with NYSC, we’ve actually given them a date but the announcement of that date remains the responsibility of the NYSC,” Aliyu said.
Regarding the reopening of schools, he said that it has to be gradual but added that all stakeholders must be wary of contracting covid-19 and should strictly adhere to the public health advisories.
“We’ve also said schools should open in a staggered way, so we expect school authorities and state governments to decide on that.
“All we are saying is, here are the guidelines, we want it to be staggered, we want you to do things in a proper way,” he said.
THE WHISTLER reported that the Director-General, NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, had on September 24, urged prospective corps members to watch out for the new date of resumption of orientation camps.
“Happily, we are on the verge of reopening the camps, working hard in harmony with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 on safe Orientation Camp resumption.
“We can say delightfully that we are approaching the end of the tunnel, and in no distant time will resume full operations while strictly observing safety protocols,” he had said.
Recall that the Covid-19 Presidential Taskforce had directed NYSC to prepare for resumption of activities at the end of the third phase of the eased lockdown.
