The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has been on strike for the past 8 months and still ongoing due to nonchalant attitude of government towards the nation tertiary institution, Education, non payment of Academic Earned Allowance (AEE), revitalization of Universities and payment platform.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embarked on a nationwide wide strike since March. ASUU reject the federal government payment platform, Integrated Payroll and Personal Information Systems (IPPIS) against her own payment platform which is University Transparency And Accountability Solution (UTAS).

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari who led other key stakeholders including the Chairman of the University of Ilorin chapter of ASUU, Professor Moyo Ajao, President, Kwara State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Azeez Jaji, parents and professional associations to call for quick resolution of the lingering ASUU-federal government crisis said enough is enough. The issue of the ASUU strike is highly irritating. The poor parents in the country are those who have children in these public universities. They are the ones who suffer negative effect of the unending ASUU strike. It’s only the rich that can send their children to private tertiary institutions or abroad for studies.

“So I urge the government to look into the issue and resolve it as quickly as possible. Enough is enough. It’s no longer palatable,”.
