The news that Senator Ali Ndume representing Borno South constituency in the National Assembly spent a night in Kuje correctional centre has caused an uproar in the North.

Many Northerners who have aired their views on the ranging controversy have called on the Nigeria Government to ensure that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe is arrested for his inability to provide Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in court.

Senator Ali Ndume was present in the Federal High court yesterday at the ongoing hearing of the corruption case against Abdulraheed Maina.

When the case came up for hearing, the defendant was not available in court, the trial judge ordered that Senator Ali Ndume be detained till he can provide Abdulraheed Maina who has since disappeared.

Many Northerners are not happy that Senator Abaribe is working a free man while Ali Ndume with similar situation is in jail.

Therefore they demand that Abaribe be brought in for equity and fairness.

While the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) through its National leader, Alhaji Yerima Shettima said “We, as a youth group from the North, find the arrest and remand in prison of Senator Ali Ndume because fugitive Abdurrashid Maina had jumped bail, as unfair. Much as we are not denying whether Abdurrashid Maina committed offence or not, we believe it amounts to setting bad example if Senator Abaribe who stood surety for terrorist Nnamdi Kanu is still walking the streets as a free man”
