Chris Ngige the Minster for Labour and employment has said that he would not give the Academic Staff Union of Universities an excuse to go on strike.

He siad this on Wednesday the 23rdof December after reaching a consensus in the meeting that was held the same day. Ngige promised that the government would surely keep to their part of the bargain. This promise is coming after the 9 month strike.

ASUU national president Biodun Ogunyomi announced on Wednesday that they would call off the Nine month strike. He said the end to the strike would start the next Thursday which is day after. He however noted that if the government do not keep to it bargain, they would go on another strike.

Ngige said the government would keep to its own part of the bargain by paying 40 billion Naira before the end of the year.

He said this during an interview by a media station.

Chris said the government will not get to another strike again, because the way they had structured the agreement, it was a win win situation.
